The Walters High School cheer squad attended UCA camp at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, in mid-July. This group of young ladies worked extremely hard on new cheers, sidelines, dances, and more difficult stunt skills.
Each day of camp, they received a spirit stick for their high energy and positive attitudes. On days 2 and 3, they were evaluated on two different routines and received blue superior ribbons on both! Cheerleaders
Jaylee Anderson, Lauren Day, Devyn Edmonds, and Callie Teakell were selected to compete in the Varsity Division Jump-Off. On day 3, All-American Cheerleader tryouts took place, in which Walters was well represented with seven girls from our squad being nominated, trying out, and performing well! Only 11 girls were selected camp-wide as Varsity All-American Cheerleaders, and five of those 11 young ladies were Walters Blue Devils, including Jaylee Anderson, Brianna Arellano, Lauren Day, Devyn Edmonds, and Karly Penn. Additionally, Lauren Day was selected by a UCA Staff member for the Pin It Forward Award for exhibiting leadership skills and having a positive, fun-loving attitude.
On the final day of camp, all squads competed with two different routines. Walters High School Cheer walked away as Camp Champions for their camp routine, which included a dance and multiple stunting skills. They were also given the Tradition Award for inspiring leadership on and off the field. While at camp, WHS cheerleaders were repeatedly complimented on their determination, hard work, performances, and skill abilities. They once again left camp as champions and represented our Blue Devils with pride.
